Imprint Buffalo: A Benefit for Jericho Road Ministries
This Thursday is Imprint Buffalo, the annual night out to benefit Jericho Road Ministries (www.jrm-buffalo.org). According to Eric Budin, Director of Development for Jericho Road, it's a night you don't want to miss. From the Burmese food and the classic fall desserts to the short but inspiring and informative address by founder Dr. Myron Glick, to the beautiful setting in the Westminster Presbyterian Church on Delaware Avenue, (with by the way plenty of parking to accommodate the expected hundreds of guests) the annual address is something you don't want to miss. You'll have an opportunity to hear about Jericho Road Ministries and Jericho Road Medical Practice and the merger of the two ministries to position the ministry to potentially receive federal grants as a "Federal Qualified Health Center," according to Budin. This status will continue to enable the ministry to serve the community regardless of health insurance and could also save millions of dollars for our community that would normally be paid out for uninsured emergency room visits.
"Imprint Buffalo is a chance for people to hear about what is happening in the city of Buffalo and a chance for people to be involved. From becoming an advocate or a volunteer, to being a financial contributor, all are welcome to hear about what the ministry is doing to better our community," explained Budin who is expecting over 400 guests to the two evening open houses. The first evening session is from 5:30-7, the second from 6:30-8 at Westminster Presbyterian Church at 724 Delaware Avenue in Buffalo. Tickets are $25.

Largest Interfaith Video Exchange in History
The Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem is the largest Jerusalem-focused prayer event in history, involving 175 Nations, 300,000 churches, and tens of millions of believers committed to praying for peace to come to Jerusalem and all her inhabitants.
Now in its tenth year, the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem takes place every year on the first Sunday of October to raise global awareness and intercession on behalf of Jerusalem.
For the first time since its inception in 2002, participants in the Day of Prayer will be able to record video prayers through KeepTree.com, and these videos will be permanently stored and displayed in a gallery, to be shared with the people of Israel and the world at www.keeptree.com/dppj.
“This will be the biggest international video exchange of interfaith words of encouragement and prayers in history,” says Robert Stearns, the founder and Executive Director of Eagles Wings, and co-chairman along with Pastor Jack Hayford of the global prayer day. “Indeed, it will demonstrate to the inhabitants of Jerusalem that they are not alone. And it will provide an opportunity for much needed healing, as Christians around the world express love and support and our steadfast commitment to see true peace come to Jerusalem and all in the Middle East.”
“KeepTree.com is proud to support this year’s Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem,” says Jon Loew, Founder, CEO of KeepTree LLC. “As Israel is facing unprecedented threats from its neighbors, we’re encouraging 800,000 people to record video prayers – one for each of the 800,000 inhabitants of Jerusalem to remind her that she does not stand alone.”
Jerusalem is the birthplace of Western civilization, the spiritual center of Judeo-Christian faith, the axis for religious thought and belief that for centuries has had a broader and ensuing effect on philosophical, cultural, artistic, sociological and political expression.
From today until the Day of Prayer, users can visit www.keeptree.com/dppj to view videos recorded by respected Pastors and believers from around the globe, and then record their own video prayers for the Peace of Jerusalem. These video prayers will be posted in a gallery dedicated to the DPPJ, at www.keeptree.com/DPPJ
The Israeli government will then make the citizens of Israel - and of the world – aware that they can visit www.keeptree.com/dppj and view millions of videos recorded for them – and invite them to reply.

Legacy of Light This October
Buffalo was the first city in America to have electric street lights. Because of the plentiful hydroelectric power of Niagara Falls, "The Queen City" became known as the City of Light in the early 20th century. It is now time that the Church of Western New York and Canada rise up and be the glory of God in this region. "You are the light of the world - like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden." (Matthew 5:14 NIV)
On October 19th-21st at the Adams Mark Hotel (safe underground free parking) in Buffalo, NY, women from different churches will gather together with one voice to encourage one another in our shared, God given goals: "..let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:16 NIV)
Women, come and join us, and bring your friends with you! We have a brilliant room waiting to be reserved by you. Come be motivated by God's Word and encouraged by corporate worship. There will be good food, free time for fun, small gorups workshops, and voluntary community projects where we can invest in Buffalo with our heart and hands (transportation to safe locations). Let's role up our sleeves! Also learn how you might be creative in reaching people in your community. The spectacular weekend is designed to equip and empower women in our unique legacy of light that is most brilliant when we bond together as ONE power source in the Body of Christ.
Enjoy ministry tables, shopping, fun night activities and music from churches around the area.
We will look for you this Fall with great expectations! Call 716-631-2636, ext. 1264 or ext 1273 for more information or www.thrivewomen.com/breakaway

New Film To Commemorate 9/11
"Last Ounce of Courage," the freedom, family and faith film that honors our military men and women and the freedoms for which they fought, will premier nationally in more than 500 theaters across America on 9/11 in commemoration of Patriot Day, prior to opening on more than 1,200 screens Sept. 14.
"This is a film about courage and character, traits that our brave military possess and on which they act every day in order to protect our nation," said Veritas Entertainment President and CEO Steve Griffin. "We hope 'Last Ounce of Courage' can serve as a reminder that freedom isn't free – even here in the U.S., where apathy all too often leads to an erosion of our personal liberties."
In order to honor military men and women, film company Veritas Entertainment is giving away tickets through Salem Radio to veterans and active military members in 28 select cities. A portion of all Patriot Day ticket sales will be donated to the Warriors for Freedom Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and improving mental, physical and holistic services for our nation's active military, veterans and their families.
"Patriot Day is a time of remembrance for those who lost their lives on 9/11 as well as the brave men and women who continue to do so in the war on terror," said Director Kevin McAfee ("Beyond the Gates of Splendor," "The End of the Spear"). "We believe 'Last Ounce of Courage' encourages individuals to keep in mind the history that has shaped our country and not forsake the sacrifice of our brave military men and women."
The first theatrical motion picture to receive "The Chuck Norris Seal of Approval," "Last Ounce of Courage," stars Marshall Teague ("Roadhouse") and Academy Award nominee Jennifer O'Neill ("Summer of '42"). The film tells a powerful intergenerational story of a grieving father inspired by his grandson to take a stand for what's right against a tide of apathy and vanishing liberties. Amidst a backdrop of military conflict abroad and domestic wars against freedom, a highly decorated combat veteran is reminded that we best honor our fallen heroes by holding dear to what they gave their all to defend.

The StandUSA online Facebook community works with the Liberty Counsel, National Rifle Association, American Family Association and other organizations to support American values and amplify the voices of individuals who want to take a stand on these issues. Terry King to Speak at BMF September Meeting
photo via buffalorising.com |
Rev. King is the founder and Chairman of the Board for Saving Grace Ministries, Inc. Rev. King founded SGM, Inc. in 1999 after he became painfully aware of the lack of coordinated services available for men who are released from prison. As Agency Executive Director, Rev. King oversees the day-to-day operation of the “Grace House” Transitional Residence Program, a transitional housing program for unaccompanied homeless adult males who are under supervision by the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. Rev. King supervises a staff of 20, which includes an Associate Director, six case managers, facility caretakers, and other executive and administrative staff. Prior to ministry Terry experienced extreme success in business as a young man that offered him a lucrative lifestyle that denied him nothing. His high life and self abuse came to a screeching halt one cold wintery night in 1994 when Terry struck and killed a young man of nineteen in a alcohol related accident. Having received Christ one summer night in a New York State penitentiary, his life would never be the same. As an inmate, Terry developed and taught a number of Christian curriculums adopted by several prisons. He has written several books and has become a highly respected speaker. The testimony speaks of the miraculous work God has performed in his life. Terry is the Executive Director and will oversee all aspects of this ministry in conjunction with primary responsibility of community and church interaction. As a minister, Terry remains available to share the gift of grace upon His life and share the message of salvation available through Christ. Whether it is a message to our youth, a church service, bibles study, conferences, or special presentation, Terry never fails to share the miraculous work that only God can do. Racial Reconciliation Documentary
A new documentary, "Sanford: the Untold Story," highlighting the racial reconciliation journey being experienced in the historic city of Sanford, Fla., following the tragic death of Trayvon Martin last February, is being aired nationwide and released on YouTube around Labor Day weekend.
In this 30-minute film, CHARISMA media founder and program host Steve Strang reveals how local pastors – including black, Hispanic and Caucasian – have taken the lead to confront the racial divide that spans generations in their city by regularly meeting, sharing and praying together.
"I was genuinely moved to see how these pastors have passionately stood together and are now reaching out to help hurting people," Strang said. "Their story will inspire audiences across the country to initiate a similar approach in their communities – because racism isn't limited to Sanford, Fla."
Strang, a 30-year resident of Central Florida, whose office is located only 2.3 miles from the site of the killing, knew of the deep-seated racial tensions that have divided the region since the days of segregation. He cited the 1947 incident when City officials refused to let Jackie Robinson's Minor League team hold spring training because he was black one year before he broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball. But he was as surprised as anyone when that came to a boiling point following Martin's death, as national activist leaders arrived in Sanford and the Black Panthers called for violence in the streets.
"There has to be divine alignment in the Church bringing healing in the community," said Paul Benjamin, pastor of the Central Florida Dream Center in Sanford. "We need to bring reconciliation and healing, and that starts with forgiveness."
Two national leaders, Dr. Raleigh Washington, president and CEO of Promise Keepers, and Bishop Harry Jackson, founder of High Impact Ministries in Washington, D.C., came to see how they could help. They suggested gathering local pastors of every denomination, and within hours came together to pray.
"Racism is not a black or white thing, it is a human thing," Bishop Jackson said, reinforcing, as evangelist Billy Graham identified when asked by a reporter several years ago, racism as the greatest social problem in the world today.
"I really believe that bringing together pastors and leaders in Sanford was a powerfully positive thing," Dr. Washington said. "Individuals from across races and denominations came together all for one purpose – to speak as one for the community and embrace one another – something which is now continually happening."
Derrick Gay, pastor of Dominion International Church of Sanford, told the group, "We have an obligation and a responsibility to stand up as the Church and do what we've been assigned to do, which is to lead the way – not wait for the media or politicians to tell us what to do."
In response, Dr. Washington challenged, "The faith community must control the rhetoric as representatives of the Sanford community. The cry for justice is going to divide us when a verdict is delivered. There will not be agreement on what justice is. The base cry must be for righteousness, which comes from God and changes hearts."
Pastor Benjamin opined that there is a time when "silence is golden," and a time when silence is just plain yellow. "Sanford is a microcosm of what is going on nationally," he said. "That is why God has given us a national platform to speak."
In conjunction with a special issue of Charisma magazine focusing on "The Church's Response to Racism," released in June, the documentary "Sanford: The Untold Story," produced by Charisma's nonprofit partner Christian Life Missions, will air nationwide beginning Sept. 2 and is available on DVD for a $30 donation.
"This case has stirred a great deal of tension and obviously brought to light the issues of race in America that are often simmering just below the surface of our culture," Strang said. "Still, there is a deeper, more personal story of hope that needs to be told. As this polarization becomes seemingly more heated and complex than perhaps ever before, it seems the Church remains the only hope for societal renewal and personal reconciliation.
"Our purpose in producing this program is to share the story about the catalytic role of pastors and Christians in Sanford who have come together to promote healing and forgiveness in this community," Strang continued. "Blacks and whites are meeting together and getting the issues out in the open and praying for one another, and they are bringing unity among the races here. We want the whole nation to hear about what they are doing, and consider the potential for this to become a movement across the country."
The documentary video is now accessible live on the Charisma Magazine YouTube channel located at http://youtu.be/85ou5M84YRw and on the official site at http://sanforddocumentary.com/. Additional information is also available at http://www.christianlifemissions.org.
